What I'm reading right now
On the bedside table:
- Circle of Simplicity, by Ceclie Andrews
Every couple of years I pick up a book on intentional simplicity. This is a good one.
- How to Breathe Underwater (stories), by Julie Orringer
A book group selection, and I'm really enjoying it. Good summer reading because the stories are short, but not too light.
- Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life, Amy Krouse Rosenthal
This book is really funny. I've been reading it just in short bursts.
- The Four Spirits, Sena Jeter Naslund
I loved her book Ahab's Wife, but this once isn't catching me up in quite the same way. It is very good, but not as good as Ahab's Wife.
- A stack of magazines: Cloth Paper Scissors, Quilting Arts, Creating Keepsakes, Interweave Knits, Smithsonian.
In the studio:
- The Artist's Quest for Inspiration, by Peggy Hadden
- 1000 Symbols: What shapes mean in art & myth, by Rowena & Rupert Shepherd
- The Blank Canvas: Inviting the Muse, by anna Held Audette
I bought this book a while back, started it and put it away. Tried again recently and now it is hitting home. I highly recommend it.
- Artist's Journals and Sketchbooks, by Lynne Perella
This book is totally inspiring.
